Hello Dears...I'm going to Taiwan!!!9th May to 18th May...Don't miss me too much yo...Averii XD~~~Pray for a safe and smooth journey ahead~~~
The Last Day in NUS
Yes... The very last day of the official school term...After 4 years in this school...It will be very hard to part with it...To tell the truth...Words couldn't explain how I feel...All the memories...The wonderful ones...The lousy ones...The normal ones...The boring ones...All of them...
My first day in NUS... Being a freshie during orientation week... And later becoming a councillor for three years... Exploring NUS at night during O week... Getting the shit scared out of me during Fright Night when I was a freshie... Scaring the shit out of freshies when I was a councillor... Mugging in central library... Clashing lectures... Ponning lectures... Mugging in E2 computer cluster... Finding friends to hang out... Going to the bazaars at central forum... Running towards the Milo Truck for Free Milo... Drinking at least 4 cups of milo at one go... Doing projects... Brainstorming for the Design Project... Mugging overnight in school... Joining BHID... Been loved and been hurt... Enjoying the night view of NUS at night... Chionging and cursing FYP... ORD-ing from FYP... Meeting all kinds of people... Making new friends... Maintaing some friendships while losing a few... Enjoying (or not) the company of all the people I have encountered with... My last day in NUS...Experiencing so many things...It is endless...I'm too attached to this school...
I'll miss you NUS...My heart is breaking at the thought of leaving you...But...It is time for me to continue the path of life...
Some Things Just Cannot Be Controlled
It is a fact that nothing last forever…There’s a time limit to everything…Love, friendship, all kinds of relationships etc…How eerily scary…We could be best buddies now… Lovers… Good friends…Fellow classmates or colleagues… Siblings…I could belong to a school, any institution, any country…But any of it could end just like that…When the time has come…It is goodbye to the things you know… The things you love… The things you cherish…With nothing left, but the memories of it all…Very frightening, but it is part of life…But I do not like it…I do not like forcing myself to like it…“Accept it”…“That’s a fact”…“There’s nothing you can do about it”…“That’s life”…Yes I know, do I seem like a retard who does not comprehend such basics?“There’s nothing you can do about it, you might as well face it happily, no point in making yourself sad”…How many times have I heard that sentence…True, I do agree with the logic in it…Since it is nothing you can do about it, might as well embrace it and be happy right??How very cheerful…But no, I do not like being told that I have to be happy because it is something out of my reach, so “I might as well”…“Be happy”…“You can control the way you feel about this”…No I most certainty do not!!!I can’t control the way I feel!!!Yes sure, I can control the way I behave, I can control my actions…I can face those unbreakable forces of change with a smile and with arms wide open…I can say I’m ready for it, or that I look forward to it…Heck, perhaps I can even psycho myself into believing that I love it…But at the end of the day…My emotions… My feelings… My inner most thoughts…I can’t control my emotions, the way I feel, my deepest thoughts, the very thing that make me human…I will feel sad when the people I know leave me one by one…I will feel sad when I leave school for good, filled with memories of that place, be it good or bad…I will feel sad because those things which I loved and enjoyed are no longer the same any more…New friends will come to meet me…New places will be there for me to go to and explore…New experiences await me whenever I leave a phase of my life and enter a new one…But it will not be the same...Perhaps I will be happy…But that does not mean I will not be sad when the old things left me…How can I keep telling myself to be happy when I’m bleeding inside?!We have a choice…We can choose to embrace changes…We can choose the way we behave, the actions we take…But I do not believe that we have a choice in our emotions…It is something that comes naturally to us…So please... Stop...
People come and go in our lives…Leaving nothing but footprints and memories…
Spring!!!

It is 2009!!!And my new year resolution is to:stop being late, lose weight, stop procrastinating, pull up my bloody CAP, be more assertive, be more passive, be nice to evil people, be mean to evil people errr...Stay HappieandBe Brave
Happie Spring!!!

Treetop Trail Outing (BHID Volunteers)
BHID Past Events and Outings
Treetop Trail Outing @ MacRitchie Reservoir - 21/12/2008Warning:
Kickass loads of pictures...
I'm sorry, but my fingers, they won't listen to me and they keep on pressing the "Upload Images" button...Ah, after hearing so much about this place, I finally have the chance to explore it!!!And along with the some excited BHID volunteers, we set off to explore MacRitchie reservoir!!!
Yesh sire!!! We are so excited!!!
Walking towards the MacRitchie reservoir...
Must Take Photo Along The Way...It is the tradition...

Monkey spotted!!!
A nice trail...
Yungle is scared of the sun...To Tree Top Trail!!!
Arg... Climbing...
Maybe they love climbing...
Very curly branches!!! Hahaha...
It is still 1.4 km till TreeTop Walk!!!Wah so far arh...
The Map of MacRitchie Trails!!!In case we get lost...And then we see some funny signs...

Along the way we stopped at the Ranger Station...There's toilets, benches, maps and most importantly, water coolers!!!Just nice for a tired adventurist... But we have only just started, so did not make full use of the amenities provided...

Resting for a while and away from the sun...Yes, I'm hungry too dear...
We came across a sleeping log...
And I disturbed it...
It is very sunny indeed...
Another monkey spotted!!!And we reach the TreeTop Walk!!!
All feeling very excited!!!
Down the stairs...We reach the entrance of the TreeTop Trail!!!
When I'm happy, I tend to do stupid things...

Wheee!!!
WOAH!!! It is high!!!

If you stand around long enough in the middle, you will feel the bridge swaying from the wind!!!Exciting sia, let's do it again!!!

After Tree Top Trail...

So... Many... Stairs...

Must be the heat...Yes... Heat stroke indeed...
Jeremy thinks so too...

Grand senior is reminiscing the good old days when he had to walk 1.2 km just to get to school...Next stop...To Jelutong Tower...
0.9 km!!! It's not that far after all when we conquer the TreeTop Trail...
Discussing seriously over the map...We dun wanna get lost in the woods...Hahaha...
Along the way, we see many trees that were being cut down...Probably to make way for the trail and to ensure the visitors safety (no falling branches etc)...

Now this looks like an entry way to a very spooky castle...
*Imagination Activate*It was a cold night. The wind was blowing hard throughout the lands.
Whipping the long strands of hair harshly across Her face.
The lone female cowered in the shadows, attempting to keep the cold away.
No. To keep out of sight.
'I must not be seen' she thought. 'Or it will all be for naught'
The Doorway was near, very near. She can do it, all she needs is some courage. But she also knew that the enemy is not far behind, and that knowledge alone is enough to make her tremble.
'The Doorway is near, but is the enemy closer?'
She heard a small slight breath near her ears, and then everything went silent.
But it was enough. She knew it was over.
*Imagination Ceased Operation*Man, my imagination can go really wild sometimes...
Is it the well from The Ring??Oh ohhh.. Good source for imagination!!!
"Thou shall not pass!!!"
Old man is very active, even with walking stick...Lolz...
We are nearing...
Ah, there, in the distance!!!
Woohooooo!!!A baby monkey spotted!!!So cute neh!!
"lalalalala~~"
"!!!!!"
"....."
*ignores you*Hahahahaaa!!!

Woah, that's a nice view of the trail...
Monkeys having fun below...

Yungle is anchoring herself to Esther...
Group photo!!!

Now she attached herself to the railings...
Mummy and baby monkey...To the reservoir...
It looks like an old bridge...
We can pretend all we want that we are some explorers lost in a jungle and trying to find our way out...But just turn our heads to the right and we can see some nice golf course...With uncles playing golf...Arrrggggg fail... Not to mention the pathway is too nice...

Zig zag!!!
My imagination is running wild again...No... No!! Stop!! Arrggg....*pulls imagination back*
Annnnnd we arrived!!!
Wow!!!

Sunbathing...
I take your picture you take mine okie??And of course, it is always a must to do a Group Jump...

To second reservoir...

Yes, trespassers will be prosecuted!!!*bang bang*
Nice!

Me!

Hi it's me again!

Finally, it is time to leave...Cos we are all so hungry and tired...And visions of hamburgers keep on dancing in my head...

And we made it out safe and sound!!
Xinyi is happy that we have all made it out in one piece...
And also very happy with her Bubble Tea...(At Toa Payoh hub)After stuffing ourselves with food and bubble tea/ice cream, some of us head to Marina Square...And we saw this!!(Remember the white balloon thingy at the Esplanade there??)
Ta Dah!!!
Yea...
Nice decorations for xmas!!!Thus ends the day of adventure!!!
Science Centre Outing (BHID Volunteers)
BHID Past Events and Outings
Science Centre Outing - 20/12/2008YES!!! Science Centre!!!The place where all the primary school kids and those young at heart runs wild...The place where science becomes interactive, where it becomes fun, where it rocks our imagination!!!Ahhhhhhh, unfortunately these sentiments are not shared by all...Why do I say that?? Hmmm let me recall the entire thing again...As quoted from Donnie the Welfare Officer:"Next, a certain Energizer Bunny (seconded by me, btw) in our group has been suggesting for an outing at SCIENCE CENTRE.. Right now, they're having a magic exhibition aside from the other permanent exhibitions.. We'll meet on Sunday (either this week or the next) at 1pm.. It'll cost $6 but think about the exciting games and displays there!! Okay, i'm so gonna fail as marketing.."As quoted by Old Grand Senior Yongfeng:"For Science Centre, right, can the energizer bunny PLEASE convince me why i should part with my $6 to visit the Science Centre? You go RC or the streets to watch people perform magic shows also FOC. If you can convince me (use msn or email me directly pls, I dun tink ppl will b interested in your "convincing" over yahoogroups, haha), I will go, despite me having to travel to the other end of Singapore. LOL."RAWR!!!Convince your head lar!!!The name Science Centre should be convincing enough...And some more you are a Man Of Science leh!!!(Grand Senior is from Science Faculty)Bleah... But never mind him...At least we still have some people who are interested!!! Yeah!!!We initially wanted to meet at 10am, so that we can have enough time to enjoy all of the exhibitions leisurely...But unfortunately, most of the interested people are in the committee and they have meeting in the morning and it ends after 12pm!!!Aarrrrrrgggggggggg...So by the time they arrived and after we finished our lunch, it was around 2pm already...(>_<) The Journey to Science Centre...

The Magic Exhibition, which we did not get to go since there wasn't enough time... =(
At the entrance, we see something gigantic staring down at us...

Ah this is something interesting...When taken with a camera, without flash, the picture looks like this:
But with flash however, it turns out this way:
Wow!!!
Hahaha...

Turbulence!!!
Evil viruses...There's a magic-science show being held... So we went in to take a look...Ya, but unfortunately its mainly for kids...So there's nothing for us to gaped in awe...

This little boy is very cute...*pinch pinch*

Colourful floors!!!
Let's welcome the contestant number 12141248713412, Jolin Cai YL!!!...And your final score is.... 45 out of 21319284214!!!Round of applause everyone!!!Ah there's this section whereby visitors can send in a message via sms to a number...And the message will appear on the screen!!!
Yeah!!! Bhid rocks!!!
YL's attempt however, seems to fail...
"No fairrr... Why my message came out like that one..."
"Well, for starters, it must be your smelly pang sai, which clogs up your karma, thus giving you such shitty messages...""Orhh... Then I must eat more veggies and fruities!!! (^.^)"Lolz..Here's something very sci-fic looking...

Colourful images!!!

Hey!! What can you see??
Ah, then we came across an exhibtion which shows nothing but a beam of strong light and a huge white wall...Or maybe it isn't an exhibition at all but just a blank wall... =P
Ahhhh!!! GIANT!!!
Does this scene looks familiar??
Opps, I forgot to censor some important parts...But never mind, if you are under 18 please kindly cover your eyes...=PThe WaterWorks...

Donnie trying out the Air Gun...
And some cute little chicks to brighten up your day!!!
At the end of the day...

A group photo is always a must!!!
Science Centre rocks!!!XD
Chinese Garden (BHID Outings)
BHID Past Events and OutingsOuting to Chinese Garden - 13/12/2008Yeah this day finally arrives!!!Before today, we actually went for another round of rece to plan and finalized the entire operation...Here's the nice pictures we took on that day...
Yeah!!!Okie, back to the real day...And yes, once again it is a bright and early morning...(Man, I'm running out of introductions...)
Walking merrily along the footpath...

The Map...Warning to all Chinese Garden visitors, The Map is slightly wrong...Eh that is all I can say, you will have to discover what is wrong when you get there, so have fun being lost!!! XD
Pointing accusingly at The Map...
Group Photo!!!
Milling around... What are we waiting for??The answer is below...

Lolz!!!Walking towards the other entrance where the residents will be alighting from the bus...
Yes must take nice photos along the way...Or I will go spastic...
Nearing liao...
Nice... nose grand senior...The residents arrived!!!

So many of them!!!
Busy busy!!!
One hardworking guy at work...
Two hardworking girls over here...And we set off!!!

Let's have an explanation on the games and activities being held on that day!!!1) The Turtle MuseumNo games in there, but plenty of fun as all of us get to see all the different kinds of turtle and tortoise...Oh and we get to feed them too!!! Wow!!!
Damn hungry turtle...

2) Pass the ObjectsThe volunteers and residents will pair up with each other...They will then randomly select an object from a bag and, and use their heads to hold that object before walking towards the finish line...After all the pairs are done, they will form a picture using the objects they have chosen...

Smilez!!!3) Statues HuntResidents are supposed to identify the statues in the photos given to them...Each photos will only show part of the statues (like the arms or legs), hence volunteers are there to provide the extra eye needed...

4) Art and CraftAn outline of a tree has been drawn onto a piece of blank paper...Both residents and volunteers have to collect various parts of nature to fill in the tree and turn the picture into a masterpiece!!!(Aka leaves, branches, flowers, and pencil rubbings of the tree barks...)
Engaging the residents...

Norman hard at work...The masterpieces!!!

Jiarong has a very important responsibility here...Yes, transporting the work of art is no walk in the park...You have to handle it veeeeery carefully...Together with that solemn expression to complete the look...After the event, all of us head to the pavilion for lunch!!!Due to time constraint, we have to eliminate one activity (the mass game), but all of us have fun anyway...
Our wonderful volunteers helping to feed the residents...

Where are the girls??
Oh there's one...The rest probably busy taking photos...
Donnie playing catch with the camera...

(-_-;)And not forgetting the all important Group Photos again!!!
After the event...
Is a good chance to take photos...(I know, aren't you sick of seeing my face already?? Too bad!!! Lalalalalaaaa...)

Happie Photos!!!

Anyway, Chinese Garden is quite a nice place if you wanna go somewhere quiet and have a nice picnic...Just look at the sights!!!

WOW!!!
Whoops... Grey Skies!!!For the entire event, all of us were praying for clear sunny blue skies...And we got that!!!But right after we sent all of the residents to their bus, the Grey Clouds suddenly loomed on top of us!!!And a few minutes later, it started to pour!!!Just how lucky (or unlucky) can we get!!!
Looks very romantic right... Heez...
And errmm... No comment...We reach the MRT station near soaking wet, and with the wind is at its max...It was very cold indeed... Very very cold...And we actually bought ourselves some ice cream...
Defy all sense of logic...But the ice cream was quite nice... From Mr Bean!!!
For no reason, we started to make ourselves comfortable over there...Everybody was too lazy to move...Hahahaa...But in the end, we (me YL Yungle Yongfeng Donnie) get our lazy asses off and went to JE library's cafe to drink coffee and talk cock...Nice!!! Let's do it again!!!=D
Rece Residents Outing (BHID Volunteers)
BHID Past Events and OutingsRece for Resident Outing - 25/10/2008When planning for residents outing, it is always a good excuse for an outing!!!Wheeeee!!!Okie, the day before, me and YL crashed in to one of the BHID committee meetings...And thus, we are invited to go to the rece for the outings!!!The first place to go to is the Hay Dairies Goat Farm!!!We meet up at Kranji cos there is a shuttle bus which will takes us to the area where the farms and sorts are at...
Happie girls happily posing...
De bus is here!!!I can't really remember la, but I think it is $1 for the whole trip...
The bus trip was quite long, as I recall...Here we arrive!!!
Goats!!!
Lolz!!!
Cute little kids feeding the goats...Excited volunteers feeding the goats too...

Bored goats...
"Hello!! Nice to meet you!!!"
Very hungry goat which mistook Donnie's bag for grass...
Emo Goat...
The kids (young goats) are simply adorable!!!Their fur are very soft (compared to the adults) and shiny...Damn nice to pet them...
Cuteeee!!!
So are we... Hahaha!!!
Awwwwww...Just as we are about to leave the feeding area...We (me donnie esther) went past an area which is sort of covered up...Curious, I peered through the openings in the metal wires and saw baby goats!!!WAAAAHHHH!!!But they are semi-hidden cos they are somewhat lying down in the crate...Then as a habit of mine, I started to mimic the goats...Me: Bleeeeaaaaaahhhh... Bleeaaahhhhh....A few seconds later...Baby Goat: Bleahhh!!! Bleahhh!!!OMG!!!!!!!!!!!SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!It Actually Replied!!!!!Omg omg omg omg omg!!!So we managed to get the baby goats attention, and it struggled to peer out of its crate to find the source of the voice...Probably thought I'm its mama...We have a nice time errrmmm communicating with each other as Donnie tried his darnest to take a photo of it...
Waaaahhhhhh... I'm melting!!!Yesh, it was a very meaningful conversation with you my dear...
At the entrance...
The milk was quite yummy...
See, he was so engrossed in it...
Aiyah, kena spotted...
The chop on our hands to show that we payed for our journey...After the fun we have at the goat farm, we decided to head to our second area...Which is the Chinese Garden!!!
On the MRT...
Here we are, at the footpath...(Aunty Bernie decided to join us here...)
At the entrance, getting our bearings...
Very nice...

Heh heh heh...
Turtle!!!
Good taste sia...He is very tall, dark and ancient ermmm *cough* handsome...Into the Bonsai Garden!!!
Once, near the big lake, we saw a big monitor lizard!!!
We also saw a squirrel!!!
Okie, Bernard and YL have a bet with each other...Any queries regarding the bet and the outcome, kindly proceed to ask the two involved parties...You will get different answers (on both the bet in question and the outcome)...Hahahahhaa...
Hahaha... This is the evidence to show that the bet is official...After a long day, it was time to head back home...
And of cos, the girls must have a last shot...Hahaha!!!
Sports Day (BHID Events)
BHID Past Events and OutingsSports Day Rehearsal - 04/10/2008To be precise...It is for the Bishan Home 10th Anniversary Inter-Home Competition...Such a big event, being 10th anniversary and all, of cos must have rehearsal right...But rehearsals are nothing compared to the real thing, hence I shall leave you guys with a nice group photo to mark the day...
The girls...
The whole group...Sports Day - 18/10/2008The Bishan Home 10th Anniversary Inter-Home Competition is here!!!On this day, BHID not only celebrates its 10th birthday, but also organized a competition for intellectually disabled residents from other Homes to participate...It is a good chance to allow these residents to interact and have fun as well!!!And so, as with the normal protocol of such events...We have to drag ourselves down to BHID so very early in the morning...Very early, like 8+am that kind of early and in Bishan some more... Wah rao...Okie, I was late la, but by 7 minutes only so it is still very early...So... Early in the morning at Bishan, you can see little figures in black lurking around...The early ones...
Getting to their respective stations...
The Bag Carriers...
It's empty as we wait for the residents to arrived...
And Aunty Bernie is hungry... Lolz...Eh, it is not for you... You are not VIP enough...
Besides us from NUS, there are other volunteers too...I saw a lot of them from UPS (Yupz, those in the brown uniforms!!!)...In fact I think they out numbered us... Hahahaha...When the residents of other Homes arrived, it is time to start off the Inter-Home Competition!!!First up... Ah, the crowds' favourite won... Lolz...Some of the residents enjoy dancing to the music...
Yeah Hi-5ive!!!
They even have cheerleaders!!!
Alright let the Real Games begin!!!Basketball
Yes, I shall talk about basketball since I am in basketball!!!(I am very very bias, hence thou shall see tons of pictures from the basketball group... Yeah!!!)Basketball consist of four stations:1) Shooting through the hoopsThe higher function residents will have to shoot the basketball into the hoop, at 6 different marked locations...This is my station!!! But since this is only for the high function residents, it means that it will be over very quickly...But, then there is also another segment which is for the VIPs to come and shoot hoops too!!!Eh, dunno why they have this la (maybe they scared the VIPs very bored or what), but some of them actually came and practice for a while... Lolz!!!

2) Dribbling around the conesThe residents will dribble the basketball around the cones, guided by the volunteers...
3) Dribbling and runningResidents will dribble the basketball and run from the starting point to the ending point...
4) Throwing and catching the basketballResidents will throw the basketball into the marked box on the wall and catch it when it bounced back...
Buwhahahahahahaaa!!!Football
(Disclaimer, okie I've only been sent to the Football section for a limited number of times only, so these are all based on my hazy memory...Hope I'm not wrong, hahaha...)Football consists of three stations:1) Dribbling around the coneDribble the football around the cones, guided by the volunteer...
2) Control and passDribble the ball for a distance, and kick it to one of the two "goals"...
3) ShootingRun towards the ball and kick it into the goal...
MATP
MATP consists of two stations:1) BowlingRoll the ball into 10 pins and try the knock down as many pins as possible...
2) Beanbag throwingThrow the beanbag on a piece of towel on the floor, and try to get the residents to throw their furthest...
Some lame moments:
Bet you guys didn't know this...But a battle between two forces of evil was going on all the while, as the volunteers are busy doing the stuff...

Luckily it ended with no casualties...Besides being station masters and guiding the residents through the competition, we volunteers also have some fun ourselves!!!Just looked at the many Bo-Liao-but-Fun games we played...For example, we all love to play the "Don't let Travis Touch the Ball" game... Hahahhahaah!!!(The name of the game is self explanatory... Just don't let our ex-Chairman touch the ball lor!!!)Okie lar, it is the "Monkey" game we all used to play lar...

A lot of the volunteers also like to come to my section and shoot some hoops...I guess it is the only fun area among the rest... Hah...

Other Bo-Liao-but-Fun games...

Lolz!!!In NUS, this thing has eluded me for so many sems...But no more!!! For on that day...A MILO TRUCK WAS HERE!!!MUWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!

Aunty Bernie loves it...
Huiping loves it...
Yingrui and Unidentified person loves it...
Travis loves it...Aggressively...Chatting happily...

But of course, it was a very tiring day for all of us volunteers...
Aunty Bernie, you are no longer young, please sit down before something happens...
Our chairman is tired too...So is all of us, but ahhh I cannot find the pictures, but I assure you we are all dead tired...After the outside activities are over, it was time to pack up...
Very hardworking people...
Look at what the one lone UPS man is carrying!!!Yupz, I guess we can trust UPS alright... Haha...
And here's looking at donnie... *Cough cough*Inside the multipurpose hall...
Some of us are upstairs...

Yishun Safra (BHID Volunteers)
BHID Past Events and OutingsOuting to Yishun Safra - 11/10/2008We decided to have some fun after our normal visit to BHID...So the vote goes to Yishun Safra for some bonding sessions on a budget!!!On the way to Yishun...
Very happy volunteers!!!
First up is pool!!!
Trying to figure out where the balls are...
Fooling around...

Not forgetting to take some photos...After a game of pool, it was time for bowling!!!The entire group was split into 3 groups...Bernard's group, Yongfeng's group, and the group that does not play but sit back and laugh at others (aka me)...Bernard's group:Bernard, Sengyong, Yingrui (missing in picture) and Yongfeng (he betrayed his own team and join the dark side)...
Yongfeng's group:Yenl, YL, Xinyi and Melissa (missing in picture)...
My Group: Me...
Bernard's vs Yongfeng's = Fight!!!

The excited crowd watches on...
And the verdict is...A Draw!!!(But will you please take a look at the lane besides us... Hahahaa!!!)
Actually, Bernard's team has won before, but it is during the last game whereby Yongfeng's team actually has a chance of winning since they are leading most of the time...But at the very last minute, Bernard (the last player) suddenly threw a double strike (see the two X??) and help save the day (of his team anyway)...Lolz...
Don't be so sad, let me comfort you losers by taking photos with you all...Muwhahahahahahaa...(I can imagine the screams of protest already...)
After bowling came the arcade!!!
Arcade gives you the natural high... Haha...

Lolz!!!Ah, it was a fun and enjoyable day indeed...(And also very budgeted...)And also, with group outings, comes the obligatory group photos...
Hope to have more outings in future!!!
Mid Autumn Festival (BHID Events)
BHID Past Events and OutingsMid Autumn Festival - 26/07/2008When a festival comes, it is always a good reason for a celebration!!!Thus we have one at BHID for the residents to enjoy...And for the volunteers to have fun as well...Ah, the day begins early for some...
Here we can see our heroes coming waaayyyy before time to make fruit juices for the residents!!!Imagine, I can't even reach Bishan on time at 10am for nearly 80% of all the visits, and they have to reach before that!!!(Okie, granted some of them live quite near la, but there are others who lived at PGP in Clementi, which is even further then where I stay...Wah lau, either they are very disclipline or they have good alarm clocks...)At the multipurpose hall...

What did he see?? Lolz...Gathering into groups...

Alright let the games begin!!!First up is "Passing the Lantern"...Whereby the lantern is being passed down by everyone in the group aka "Passing the Parcel" style...When the music stops, the person holding the lantern will have to pick a slip of paper inside the lantern, which will decide whether you received a prize or a forfeit...
Pass the lantern quickly before the music stops!!!
What's written in the slip of paper??
One of the residents receiving a prize...
Another kena a forfeit, which as seen from this picture, is to do a chicken dance...In my group...
Aunty Bernie kena a "sticker on face" forfeit...
So did Benjamin...But I kena a chicken dance forfeit!!! Arrrgggghhhh!!!Wah heng no photographic evidence...The second game is "Passing the Rubber Bands with a Straw"...Each group have to form one long line and pass rubber bands down the line using only straws!!!
Forming the line...
My group...
Cheeze!!!
The next activity was "Lantern Making"!!!

Our volunteers are so hardworking...

The final product: Colourful lanterns!!!We have a mini break here, whereby residents get to eat mooncake, sponsered by CSC...
Yummy yummy...(Ya, it was indeed delicious... =p)Last but not least..."Balloon Frenzy"!!!!!!!It is a game meant for volunteers and the staff, where each members tied a balloon to their foot, and tried to stomp on others' balloon while protecting their own...Wah, very fun, but damn tiring...
Filling up the balloons...

Must take photos!!!
Getting excited over the balloons...Just before the game starts...

Ritchie is very determined...And the winner of the balloon frenzy is...ME and Ritchie... Lolz!!!Well, there was supposed to be only one winner each from both the staff and volunteers group...But because the last few volunteers are so enthusiastic, the whole game drags for more than a few minutes...It was errrmmm great entertainment for the residents...The last surviving three volunteers are me, Ritchie and Travis...Oh yes, you would think that a girl vs two guys is gonna lose right??But no!!! I am not called "WS the 'Chor Lor'" for nothing!!!Years of training by dodging my brother's attack when we fought has cultivated not only my "Siam-ing" skills, but also my "Running" and "Jumping Away" skills as well...Hahahaha!!! =pEh, and that Travis play cheat one lor!!!He quietly wait and relax in one small corner first, then when the numbers of volunteers started dwindling down to just a few, he ran towards us and join in...Wah lau eh, sneaky bastard...But muwhahahaha still lose... =p(See the video here, scroll down to the bottom of the page...)Oh by the way, the prize is lunch and bubble tea treat from our Chairman...Heez...
Gathering all the lanterns...
Group photo!!!It was a great day!!!
BBQ @ PGP (BHID Volunteers)
BHID Past Events and OutingsBBQ @ PGP - 23/08/2008After the normal visit to BHID, me and Donnie and Travis head on to PGP as the rest have something on in the afternoon...So we travel to Vivo City there cos the harbourfront bus-stop have buses that leads directly to PGP...And since we are still early hor, we took a stroll in Vivo City...Thus I drag them to the pet shop on the third floor!!! Yeah!!!Wah the puppies are very cute!!!XD XD XD XD XDErrmmm, hence we got distracted by the cute little animals and also waiting for YL, which makes us terribly late for the badminton session at PGP...The six of us (me, YL, Bernard, Donnie, Travis, Benjamin) played some badminton to pass the time as we wait for the rest of the volunteers to arrived at PGP...It has been a long time since I last played badminton liao wor, but heng my skills still not very rusty yet...Cos at least me and YL when combined, still can trashed Donnie/Travis/Benjamin doubles combination...Buwhahahahahahaha!!!But unfortunately, once Bernard enters the game, errrmmm we sort of errrr started losing... Damn it...Lets just say he really knows how to ultilize his long limbs... Arrrgggg...Anyway, Yungle came afterwards and shoo-ed us all upstairs to her block cos she made some toast with kaya, and dunno red or green bean soup...By this time, many other volunteers have also started streaming in and our dear Chairman started feeding us...As we all gobbled up the food, ooooh do we feel some motherly love... Hahaha!!!Some of us went to Donnie's room to grab the food, while the rest head on to the BBQ pit!!!(Right, I didn't realised that the floors are separated according to gender, so the floor we went to are the guys floor...Just so happens I was turning my head around, and then I saw one guy coming out of the shower half naked with a towel wrap around his lower half...And then!!! And then hor!!! He unwrap his towel!!! And rewrap it again!!! In front of me!!!Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! O_oJust kidding la, I didn't see anything cos he was back facing me... Heeheehee...)
Yeah!!! We have a nice fountain next to our BBQ pit!!!
Our ex-Chairman Travis starting the fire...
Due to the lack of space, we tried arranging the food in the most save-space-combination possible...
Smilez!!!
Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!!! I saw a Long Hair Female Apparation!!!Oh chey its just our Chairman...
It is also very suay that it rained throughout the entire BBQ session!!!So we have to not only slaved over the hot and sooty pit to cook the food, some of us become umbrella holders to save the food and the charcoal!!! Very labour intensive indeed...
Fire!!! Fire!!!
Labour intensive around the pit because:- some cook the food- some hold the umbrella- a few extras stand around and look (or like me taking photos)
Gossip time!!!
Yummy!!!
Yummy!!! Yummy!!!All thanks to our hardworking guys and girls!!!
And thanks to our many "food tasters"...
Oei Aunty Bernie what are you doing?!?!
Ya right...
Having fun while BBQ-ing...
And to take photos as well...(Yaya, I am very Zi Lian)
Wheeeee!!!We realised that that chicken wings weren't cook even when placed on the BBQ pit for a very long time...So a few of us decided to try the microwave oven instead...
Anticipating the chicken wing...
The view outside...
Hey we can even see our BBQ pit from here!!!
The four of us are in charge of chicken wing cooking mission!!!
Dissecting the chicken wing...
Donnie can't wait to taste it out, and use his volunteering spirit for this task...
"Mmmm... Tis Good!!!"Right... So microwave it is...(Yes, the chicken wings are good indeed... Muwhahahaha *licks lips*...)Back to the BBQ pit...

Opps!!!
What in the world...??
Eh, stop using the umbrellas to block la!!!

The Statue of BBQ Freedom!!!
Cosy little group in the shelter!!!
Cheeze!!!
Feeling too full to even smile for the camera...
Wondering what to do with the leftover cooked and uncooked food...

Happie Group!!!
Garden Festival (BHID Outings)
BHID Past Events and OutingsOuting to Singapore Garden Festival 2008 - 26/07/2008Yeah, this is my first outing with the residents!!!So excited sia!!!
Group photo at the ground level of Suntec City...BHID was given some free tickets by CSC to go to the Garden Festival at Suntec City...Just enough for the residents only, so the volunteers have to pay for their own tickets...Heng heng Bernard got NTUC card, so we got 15% off...Wah 不 愧 是 我 们 的 Aunty Bernie...But unfortunately, due to time constraints, we did not managed to fully appreciate the Garden Festival because we only have 2 hours to cover two whole levels of flower display!!!Especially on level 6, where the theme is Fantasy Landscape I think...Level four is where the displays by the Community...(If I'm not wrong, BHID won something... Hahaha yeah!!!)
Just before entering...
Group photo at level four...Can you see the shiny award being held by one of our residents??(The square thingy, not the lights la...)Guess what, they have this section at level four, whereby they show how flowers or leaves can be made into something useful...Thus they folded some leaves into mini grasshoppers!!! Tres Cute!!! Kids love them...They also made some Kueh with the addition of flower petals into it... Very delicious indeed... And I got the recipe!!! Muwhahahahahahahaaaaa!!!Anyway, after the residents outing is over, some of us went back for another round of ogling at the beautiful displays...Because it would be waste not to take photos of all those displays since some of them are absolutely breathtaking...And because we pay for the admission fee liao, so must make it worth it sia... Hahahaa!!!

The people who went back:Bernard, me, YL, Yenl, Yungle, Yongfeng
Okie, enough photos of us...Here are some of the beautiful exhibits at level 6...Man, these pictures don't do them justice...(Due to the lousy camera we all have, I did some research online and found a few amazing photos, and add them in...To tell the difference between the photos we took and the ones I got off the net, it is the ones that makes you go from "Nice" to "WOAH!!!"...)Here are my favourites..."A Garden of Dreams"

"Rose of Glendalough"

"Seeking Shangri-La"

Haw Par Villa (BHID Volunteers)
BHID Past Events and OutingsOuting to Haw Par Villa - 28/06/2008Ah, remember the last outing at ECP??There was only 8 volunteers, which I thought it was quite little already...But guess what, this time there was only FOUR!!!(-_-;)Eh, Haw Par Villa is fun okie...You get to relieve all your childhood memories over here...(Yes, given the number of affordable attractions Spore has, if you never come here before you must be seriously spending all your childhood mugging at home right?!!?!)Ahem...We, the four lone souls, arrived at HPV bright and early...
Heh hehz...
The four adventurers!!!

Yungle please stop molesting the monk lol!
Angry horse...
We are so bo liao... Lolz...
Along the way, we encounter a wishing well...And do what desperate girls usally do... Lolz...
The entrance of the Ten Courts of Hell!!!(I have always thought that it is 18 levels?? Hmmm...)

There's simply too much blood and gore in nearly all the exhibits inside...(Hence I decided to self-censor, because little kids nowadays are too tech savvy...)And to imagine I used to visit here regularly when I was a kid...Its no wonder I turned out all sadist this way... Hahaha...
This is a very pretty exhibit...Anyway, what this shows is that when you reincarnate, you will be born into one of those 6 realms, depending on your actions in your past life...You may be reincarnated as a human, animals, fishes, etc etc etc I forgot the rest...Aiyah, if you want to know, go and visit it, admission fee to the Ten Courts of Hell is just $1... Cheap cheap...Other bo liao pictures we took...
We bought a fan and decided to act all "gu niang"...
Jiakai joined in the "gu niang-ing"... Hahahahaa!!!And with his last (rare few) picture of the day, Jiakai left and the remaining 3 brave souls continue their exploration of HPV...

East Coast Park (BHID Volunteers)
My Lovely CCA - BHID (Introduction)
I believe in this mantra "Better Late Then Never" wholeheartedly...So here goes my annual Blog-a-ton...BHID Past Events and Outings
A lil introduction before I began...I joined one of the Regular Volunteering Program (RVP) from NUS CSC at the beginning of 2008...Now now... Why in the world would I join a CCA so late into my university education??1) I think having a CCA looks better on the resume2) I wanna make more friends3) I am sick of my boring school life ( = no life)4) I have virtually no life outside school (school - home - school - home - school ...)5) I repeat, I really have NO LIFE!!!Enough whining...Opportunity comes in the form of yenl and YL (who joined 1 week before me) and BHID was introduced to me...And I have not regreted it since...=DBHID is Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled...Every week, the volunteers head over to the said place and enjoy some activities with the residents...These ranges from simple basketball and football activities (such as dribbling, passing and shooting etc) to MATP (Motor Activities Training Program) a form of training for residents with severe physical disabilities...All of these activities aimed to train residents on the various motor skills which all of us take for granted and at the same time, allow them to have fun and interact with more people...Of cos, activities may vary from semester to semester...But roughly it is around like that...Here are some photos of the stuff we usually do:Football
Basketball

MATP
Some photos we took in the meeting rooms at BHID...

Our weekly lunch and the traditional bubble tea session!!!
Other Bo Liao pictures...

We have very cute residents too!!!
"The Sleeping Buddha" aka the dog that always nua on the floor and refuse to nudge no matter how much you cajoled/sayang/pet/threatened it...His name is Ah-Boy by the way...
Oh looking so pitiful now, are you??Bleah... Who ask you to ignore a Mei Nu (aka me)...There's another cute little dog too...
When we first get to know this cutie, a resident told us 'he' is called 'Ah-Boy'...But me and YL feel that Ah-Boy is too common a name, hence we decided to give it a new name..."Here donny donny~~" -- Ah-Boy ignore us..."Here yongfeng boy~~" -- Ah-Boy made no motion at all..."Here travisy~~" -- Once again, no reaction...Well, all was not going well in our quest at name-a-dog by saying all the names of the male volunteers at BHID until..."Oei, Bernard!!! Respond leh you!!!""Bark!!" *wags tail*Okie, hence we name it Bernard the dog, after our very own Auntie Bernie...
But guess what!!!Just recently, we found out that 'Ah-Boy' is actually a female!!!And her real name is Poppy!!!Poppy!!!
"Woof arf arf bark!!" = "I am a very friendly dog!!!"
"YIP!!! Bark bark bark!!!" = "Ouch, someone pulled my fur!!!"
Doing stretching excercise...
"Arf arf!!" = "Bye bye!!! =D"Awwwww... So cute!!!For more information please visit the BHID blog!!!
