Working as a Flyer Distributor...
After months of complaining that I don't have a job (well actually it's only one and a half month),
I finally got a part-part time job!!!
Why part-part time?
Cos if normal part-time jobs are those regular monday-friday, and lasts for at least a month,
then my job is part-part time because it's irregular and only last for either a few days in the weekends or up to 10 days...
Confusing? Yeah, that's my whole idea...
Just kidding...
I've work at this job before, and even till now, I still find it tremendously straining, mentally and physically...
Well hey, distributing flyers is tough work ok??
Why physically demanding??
The boss I'm working for is not the normal kind...
So instead of letting his workers stand in a corner and mutely handing out flyers to passer-bys,
he wants us to cover a rather large area, chase after customers, while holding the flyers in a ridiculars position to ensure people within 1km radius to spot the bright colours (thus allowing them to avoid us, make no sense at all), and holding the flyers up to the customers faces to make sure that they see it, and at the same time say loud and clearly " Handbag sales at _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _, level 3!!!"
Try doing that for 9 hours.....
I'll tell you, being the newbie, I very obediently follow his instructions, thus I was nearly half dead at the end of the first day...
I find it physically impossible to do all of that, especially the part when we have to talk to the customers, cos majority of them are walking too damn fast for me to finish talking before I have to give another flyer to the next passer-by...
Thus it becomes" Handbag sales" instead...
Then, at the last few hours, it becomes "....."
And I've become smarter now, instead of chasing customers, I just have to spread my hands out (pretty long since I'm quite tall), and it will cover nearly 3/4 of the designated areas I'm supposed to cover...
So I just have to twirl around and round on the same spot to catch customers in front, at the side, and at the back of me...
But on the other hand, it makes me dizzy...
Guess you can't have it all...
It is also mentally exhausting...
Because aside from the fact the the job is very boring and you have to keep yourself from daydreaming (which is very hard for me since daydreaming is as easy and automatic as breathing to me),
you have to face the prospect of being REJECTED by the passer-bys...
And some of them are just so bloody RUDE!!!
Even if you do not want the flyers, you can just do the following, which is not hard and it would make my day at the same time:
1)Smile and nod at me
2)Smile and shake your head at me
3)Smile and put up your hand to wave 'no' at me
And if you happen to have cramps on your face, thus is unable to smile at me, you can still:
1)Shake your head
2)Wave your hand 'no'
3)Make a long detour to avoid me
Just don't do the following things, it gives me temptation to throw my stack of flyers at you, and it ain't light:
1)Walk past me without even glancing at me
2)Walk past me very slowly without even glancing at me
3)Look at the flyer, and look, and look, and look without taking and walk away
4)Snap at me for blocking your way (hey you don't own the road you rude bitch!!!)
*SLAP* *SLAP* *SLAP* *SLAP* *SLAP*
I feel like slapping people these few days...
Just take the bloody flyer!!! Will it kill you???
But anyway, this job is pretty good, cos the pay is nice, I can wear comfortable clothes, and I don't have to promote or sell anything!!!
I made some friends as well!!!
There's E and S, who are in my group (we were split into groups to cover different areas),
SF and BT who are even newer than me,
O and E and D and D and one or two whom I forgot the name...
:-D
I just have to deal with sore feet, sore legs, sore arms, sore back, dehydration, exhaustion, late lunch and dinner...
Well no job is perfect...
